THE PELLET FEEDER - ANDY FINDLAY EXPLAINS WHY IT WORKS SO WELL:
I designed the Pellet Feeder after watching carp feeding in the margins. There was a time when I used a cage feeder filled with soaked pellets, but after watching fish feeding around one I realised improvements could be made.
With a cage feeder pellets come out of both ends and also fall out underneath the feeder (especially when using micro feed pellets). Because the Preston Pellet Feeder has no holes in the body, plus a grid at one end, the pellets can only come out at the open end. This means the fish home-in on this area straightaway.
The elastic that runs through the body is pulled up on the cast which shortens the hooklength by about an inch and leaves the hookbait just outside the feeder - exactly where the carp home-in on as the pellets fall out.
When the hookbait is sucked up, the elastic moves about an inch through the feeder, without resistance, before it is stopped by the swivel. This free movement stops the carp ejecting the bait so quickly and increases the bolt effect. |
